Director of MYAD

Rio first attended the UN at just eight years old, and she has since been driven by the goal of returning to contribute her vision of change to this forum. Now serving as MYAD's Director, Rio believes that lasting impact begins at the local level before scaling it up to the global stage. Her vision has been shaped by three years of involvement with MYAD, from helping lay the groundwork for the organization's involvement with the UN Tax Convention Framework and delivering a speech at the 2025 ECOSOC Youth Forum to serving as Head Delegate to the Commission on the Status of Women in 2026. In her final year at McGill University, Rio is completing a Joint Honours degree in Political Science and International Development, with a minor in Gender Studies.

Logistics Officer - Operations

Collin is a U2 Student in International Development Studies, Economics, and Political Science. Having volunteered for over a decade at his hometown's New Year's Eve celebration and its year-round community incentives, he has a deep passion for supporting and building bonds within the communities around him. This passion pushed him to join MYAD to help bridge the gap between local, national, and global actors and show the importance of youth advocacy. Additionally, Collin's policy interests are focused around community, with him advocating for the promotion of the rights of labour, the advancement of both child and parental welfare, and a humancentric approach to development.

Logistics Officer - Finances

Isaac is a U3 student in management and political science. He is passionate about advancing affordable healthcare and cancer treatment equity worldwide. Through youth activism and his future studies in international business, Isaac strives to advocate for equitable access to healthcare and amplify youth-led efforts addressing public health disparities.

Experience Officer

Rayyan is a U3 Honours student studying International Development, with minors in Political Science and African Studies. She is passionate about global health equity, human rights law, and frameworks like the Responsibility to Protect, and what it takes to hold international institutions accountable to the commitments they make. She is particularly drawn to how humanitarian responses can be more locally grounded, and the role coalition-building plays in making that possible at a time when international cooperation feels increasingly fragile. Now in her second year with MYAD, she is excited to continue channelling that commitment alongside youth dedicated to intentional, collaborative international advocacy.

Experience Officer

Hiba is in her second year at McGill, studying International Development. She first joined MYAD as a delegate for CPD59, and this year, she comes back as an experience officer where she will support youth participation through negotiations and HR affairs. She has a combined experience of government, NGO and non-profit work which she aims to utilize to bridge civil society and high level policy.

UN Public Relations Officer - CSocD

Witnessing long-term developmental impacts of conflict sparked Norah’s interest in the relationship between geopolitics and education. She is particularly interested in how governance, diplomacy, and public policy shape educational opportunity, social mobility, and the capacity of education systems to prepare young people for a rapidly changing world. Through MYAD, she aims to advocate for youth voices and evidence-based policies that equip young people with the skills needed to thrive, advancing equity, resilience, and social and economic progress across generations.

UN Public Relations Officer - CPD

Samrawit Terrefe is a U3 International Development student with minors in Political Science and African Studies. She has experience in NGO coordination, program planning support, implementation, and multi-stakeholder engagement in development initiatives. Her work focuses on advancing women’s development in Africa, with a particular emphasis on gender-responsive policy and engagement with United Nations Commission on Population and Development (CPD) dialogues. Through MYAD, she aims to contribute a cross-cultural, policy-informed perspective on global governance while strengthening her engagement with international development practice and advocacy.

UN Public Relations Officer - CSW

Lena is a U2 student in Political Science and Philosophy, hoping to later pursue a law degree. She is excited to return to MYAD for a second year and continue working alongside other passionate youth to amplify their voices in multilateral spaces. Her interests lie primarily in issues of climate change, migration, and women’s health.

Negotiations Officer

Sofía is currently a U2 student at McGill University studying Economics and Statistics. She recently interned at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and hopes to pursue a career in data and policy analysis. Prior to living in Canada, Sofía was involved in lobbying and advocacy efforts at both the state and national levels in the United States. The experience she gained through this inspired her to join MYAD and continue her policy advocacy on a more international scale.

Ad Hoc Officer

Catherine Dong is a second-year Honours Political Science student with a minor in Economics at McGill University. She joined MYAD to empower marginalized communities in multilateral spaces; prior to this, she worked extensively on awareness campaigns and humanitarian fundraisers. She is particularly passionate about advancing the social inclusion of racial minorities and protecting women and girls from technology-facilitated violence. Drawing from her experience as a delegate to the UN Commission on the Status of Women, she will lead a new Ad Hoc team engaging closely with the UN Human Rights Council.

Ad-Hoc Officer

I am most passionate about foreign policy and geopolitics, and more specifically how power rivalries can be managed through international institutions and diplomacy. Spanning conflict resolution, multilateral negotiations or international economic governance, i am interested in the mechanism that allows states with competing interests to cooperate.

Community Engagement Officer

Bridget is a U3 student studying Political Science and Chemistry, with hopes to pursue a career in public health policy. She is interested in the social determinants of health, health equity, and development policy. She is excited to foster connections with the McGill and broader Montreal community this year as the Community Engagement Accountability Officer!

Community Engagement Officer

Pola is a U2 student majoring in Political Science and Economics, and minoring in Philosophy. She’s fascinated by the intersection of these three disciplines, both in academia and in the real world. She has joined MYAD for the community it comes with, as she finds collective ambition and intellectual stimulation are essential to both policymaking and personal development! She’s particularly interested in combating disinformation and misinformation in social and political dialogue.

Branding Officer

Aimée Michaud is a U3 Double Major student in Cognitive and Political Sciences. Her experiences with, but not limited to, YMCA, Amnesty International and Meals on Wheels Montreal fuelled her drive to actively partake in making a change. Through participation in international forums and policy creation, she hopes to further protect international human rights, specifically for marginalized communities worldwide.
