Jeanne Gonelle
Head Delegate (she/her)
Jeanne is a fourth-year student at McGill University in Political Science, World Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies, and Economics. She joined MYAD to help build platforms for youth political participation and counter the growing distrust in institutions such as the United Nations. Her advocacy focuses on rebuilding institutional trust and addressing socio-economic barriers to integration for marginalized populations, including low-income households and refugees.

Olivia Melanson
Head Delegate (she/her)
Olivia is a U3 student completing a B.A in Honours Political Science with minors in Economics and Indigenous Studies. Returning to the MYAD team for a second year, she is excited to continue advocating for youth voices and building meaningful partnerships with her community to support these efforts. Olivia is interested in the role of economic and multilateral institutions, along with the paramount role played by civil society within these discussions. She is also interested in the advantages and dangers of technology within societies globally.

Audrey Gheorghe
Head Delegate (she/her)
Audrey is a third-year Political Science and International Development Studies student at McGill. She is passionate about access to quality education for all women and girls, feminist and decolonial approaches to economic policy, and the intersection of gendered labour and global health in low-income regions. As a returning member, Audrey joined MYAD to continue advocating for marginalized and non-governmental voices on the multilateral stage. She also sees MYAD as a space to continuously learn more about diverse perspectives as well as connect with like-minded youth.

Lawrence Plastina
Delegate (he/him)
Lawrence is in his fourth year studying Political Science, with minors in Statistics and Russian Language. He’s been a delegate for MYAD for three years now and is currently serving his first year as the Negotiations Officer for CSocD. He’s interested in how global governance can help make tech development more equitable and inclusive, especially by including voices from marginalized communities and mitigating the environmental and social risks of new technology.

Margaux Duchanaud

Margaux is a passionate advocate for youth engagement in global governance and equitable access to education. With a background in Model United Nations and a strong interest in International Relations, she seeks to promote inclusive policymaking that empowers young people to shape their futures. Margaux joined MYAD because she cares deeply about advocacy and values MYAD’s unique approach through research, writing, and debate. She is eager to collaborate with like-minded youth leaders and contribute to evidence-based solutions addressing systemic inequalities.

Laia Charles Saigne

Laia Charles Saigne is a U3 student completing a B.A. in Honours Political Science with minors in Environment and Management. As the Ad-Hoc Officer, she oversees and guides the two Ad-Hoc teams in new initiatives. Driven by a commitment to building fair and equitable societies, she believes MYAD provides an invaluable platform for amplifying youth voices and advancing their interests in international decision-making spaces.

Audréanne is pursuing a double bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Development. Her policy interests revolve around the intersection of conflict, development, and social security, with a particular focus on protecting women and children in crisis-affected contexts. Through her involvement with MYAD, she aims to contribute to the creation of inclusive and evidence-based policies that will inspire decision-makers to address these protection gaps.

Kim Tirouvanziam

Kim Tirouvanziam is currently in her first year at McGill University, majoring International Affairs and minoring in French Literature and East Asian Language. She hopes to bring her passion for youth advocacy to MYAD, especially on the issues of fair working conditions for undocumented economic migrants, and on further environmental regulations for large corporations.

Yasmine Kara
Delegate (she/her)
Yasmine is a law student passionate about social justice, international law, and inclusive global governance. Her academic background and personal experiences as a North African woman have deepened her understanding of how systemic exclusions affect marginalized communities and strengthened her commitment to advocating for equitable participation in policymaking. Through the McGill Youth Advisory Delegation, she hopes to strengthen youth involvement in decision-making and advance institutional reform that better reflects the realities of underrepresented voices. Her policy interests include financing for development and debt sustainability.

Norah Nehme

Of Lebanese heritage, Norah has witnessed how conflict can obfuscate the futures of children through no fault of their own. Her studies in pedagogy, alongside experiences in diplomatic affairs, focus on expanding access to education and bridging the digital divide for marginalized communities. Classrooms, when they exist, can become monuments to lost promise, leaving countless learners behind. Guided by the belief that education is a catalyst for transforming societies, she aims to ensure these classrooms become gateways to opportunity by working with MYAD to advocate for flexible, localized curricula, digital infrastructure, and youth-led solutions that restore agency, potential, and hope.

Rio Justice
Head Delegate (she/her)
Rio is passionate about applying academic knowledge to real-world issues, especially in conflict resolution and negotiation strategies that reflect the realities of those affected. Her policy interests are centred on a feminist perspective, with a focus on the gendered impacts of issues like water scarcity and healthcare disparities, ensuring women’s voices are uplifted. Committed to the power of collective action, she joined MYAD to advocate for inclusivity and to ensure women are represented and heard in policy discussions.

Sofía Ugarte Restrepo
Head Delegate (she/her)
Sofía has previously been involved in lobby and advocacy efforts at the state and national level in the US, the experiences gained from this work inspired her to join MYAD to continue policy advocacy on a more global scale. Many of her policy interests stem from her initial experiences in advocacy and lobbying as she was able to see first hand the importance of civic engagement programs. She is currently is a U2 student at McGill studying Economics and Statistics hoping to enter the field of policy through the side of data and analysis.

Rayyan is a U2 student pursuing a B.A. in Honours International Development Studies with minors in Health Geography and the Social Studies of Medicine. She’s interested in global health law and how it connects with social policy to shape more equitable healthcare systems. Through MYAD, she hopes to bring a youth perspective to global conversations on health and development while learning from others about how ideas and initiatives take shape on an international level.

Catherine Dong

Catherine Dong is a student at McGill University, studying Political Science with minors in Economics and East Asian Studies. Her experience with anti-Asian racism during the COVID pandemic in school and in the city fueled her drive to actively address injustices in her community. Through policy recommendations, she hopes to advance the wellbeing of marginalized communities, particularly women and people of colour, to foster a more inclusive society. Catherine’s policy interests focus on expanding access to education for women and girls in rural areas of low- and middle-income countries.

Joining MYAD as a delegate is an opportunity for her to work on tangible projects and policies, discover new ideas and meet like-minded people. MYAD offers students the opportunity to advocate for the issues that matter most to them. Given the underrepresentation of youth in international institutions, it offers a valuable opportunity for Hannah to amplify the cause she is most passionate about. As a delegate on the Commission on the Status of Women, she looks forward to learning from her peers and contributing to advocating for gender equality.

Luciana Brewer

Luciana is currently in her U1 year at McGill, pursuing a double major in Chemistry and Political Science. She joined MYAD to learn more about how international policy can be positively influenced, to meet new people, and to contribute to MYAD’s work in ensuring that the needs and perspectives of youth are included in multilateral agreements. Luciana is passionate about environmental governance policy, specifically renewable energies, consumption and climate justice, as well as policy on gender equality, in particular women-centered medicine and systemic sexism and misogyny.

Luca is a U2 student double majoring in Political Science and Economics. He joined MYAD to advocate for youth representation in multilateral spaces and to learn more about the UN system and its legal frameworks. Luca is passionate about international law, human rights, disarmament, and nuclear policy.

Henry Maidoh
Head Delegate (he/him)
Henry Maidoh is a U3 Honors student at McGill University studying Political Science and International Development Studies. Now in his second year with MYAD, he is dedicated to advancing informed, youth-led advocacy that bridges global policy discussions with local action.. His policy interests include promoting intergenerational solidarity to counteract institutional and social silos, advancing civic education and addressing political misinformation amid democratic disillusionment, and protecting refugee rights and inclusion. Through MYAD, Henry hopes to take on a greater leadership role, supporting policy development, mentoring new delegates in discovering their own power in advocacy, and expanding MYAD’s impact across international platforms.

Currently studying International Development and Political Science, she joined MYAD to gain hands-on experience in diplomacy, collaborate with diverse youth advocates, and contribute to UN-focused policy work. Her interests centre on expanding equitable access to education for marginalised youth and improving ESG reporting and accountability. She is committed to advancing inclusive, evidence-based approaches in global decision-making spaces.

Hiba Maria Belgada

Hiba is a first-year student at McGill University’s Faculty of Arts who believes that collaboration and empathy are key to creating progress. As the former president of her CEGEP’s student union and a delegate at the UN High-Level Political Forum in New York, she’s passionate about making sure young people have a voice in every space that affects them. She currently works at Quebec’s Ministry of the Environment and is especially interested in promoting equitable development across environmental, health, and economic issues. Hiba joined MYAD because, in today’s political climate, she believes youth advocacy is more important than ever, with policy interests in reducing “brain drain,” improving women’s health diagnostics, and addressing the inequitable housing crisis.

Lena is a second-year Political Science student who plans to pursue law school after completing her degree. She joined MYAD to speak out on issues that matter deeply to her and learn how to advocate effectively in such a setting. Lena is particularly interested in policies regarding migrant rights and women’s health, causes she hopes to champion throughout her future legal career.
